If you’re on staff, part of working here is bi-weekly accountability and temperature taking. This is a simple device to help you reach your goals, no matter what they are. You can be as personal and open as you like, and all information is very strictly confidential. In truth, this system is just a mirror – we require you use it, but how you interpret what you see is up to you. Most people at first reject it by saying it’s not true, or justifying. We invite you to use this as a tool to help yourself grow, and as guideposts to help you reach your own goals.
Fill this out, and date it, and email it in – later, we’ll make this part of the CRM.
The 5 areas in which we “take your temperature” are:
- Career & Business. This is just about your daily work, short term goals, making money with us. It’s really about making the bucks.
- Personal Finances / Security. This includes your personal journey, family finances if your spouse works, insurance and investment – the personal side of what happens to the money once it comes in.
- Personal & Spiritual. This is you relating to you and/or a higher power, religion, but also your psychological well being. For me [RogerV] personally, this is often about self control and whether I feel in control of my life (just an example).
- Family & Relationships. Title says it all…kids, cousins, parents, friends – anyone you consider family.
- Health & Recreation & Fitness. Everything related to the operation of your body – goals in this area might include better diet or exercise, vacations (which often overlaps with 3 & 4, but requires 1 & 2 to solidify!)
1. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best, how do you feel about your Career and Business?
- If 1-7: What will it take to get a 1-point gain? What needs to happen? 2 point gain? Set some “baby step” goals. If you’re unsure what goals to set, then set a goal of identifying who to ask for help, a date by which you’ll request help or get advice.
- If 8 or 9: What will it take to get you to a 10? Also, is the reason you feel this way because of empirical data, or perception based on human relationship to the data? It is important to identify whether it is based on something like human approval, or hard numbers. Both are just fine, neither is wrong – but know which is more important to you.
- 10: Looking back 30 days, were you a 10 in this area? What will it take to keep you a 10?

Answer the questions above with numbers, and measurable specific goals with a specific date, and in 30 days, we’ll review them to hold up the mirror. We hope you like what you see! You might want to print your goals and post them, add them to your calendar, etc. to ensure you reach each and every one of them.
